'Tis the season to celebrate His birth!!!

Christmas is in the air! Ah, such a glorious feeling!

I was soooooo ready to start decorating and listening to Christmas music! This time of year gets me so pumped up to...............celebrate Christ's birth. To be with family and friends. To get cozy in front of the fireplace with cocoa and brownies. To watch Christmas movies. To make a difference in someone's life. To just be alive.

And I think the rest of the world feels the same way. Even if they aren't Christians, people can't help but feel jolly and merry this time of year. Why is that, I wondered.
Then I started thinking that the answer is simple: Jesus Christ was born.

'But Lily' you might be saying, people who aren't Christians don't care that Jesus was born.

Fine. That's true. But (as my witnessing class has discussed) God gave humans an innate sense that there is something out there, something that created the world, something that has power over everything. Unfortunately for some, they search for this something in other religions: Islam, Buddhism, or Hinduism. *note: I am going to stray away from discussing this issue further and delve in to it another time. (:
I believe that this innate sense is what makes people so happy this time of year. They know, whether they admit it or not, that Jesus Christ was born. There's my theory on this 'holly and jolly' time of year.

How are you? I am fine. I am going to soccer tonight. I hope that when I'm older I will be on a famous soccer team. Mia Hamm was on a soccer team like that. Freddy Adu is too. Maybe when we are older, me, Steph, Karlie, and Alexis will be on a team together. I think they would like that.

Dear Journal,
How are you? I know it's been awhile, but with soccer and all, we've been busy. We go to gymnastics and baseball too. Oh, guess what! My whole family is going to Disney World in July! On July sixth, to be exact. I have gone to Disney World only once, and I was three then, so I don't remember much. It will take us 18 hours to get there. We will probably rent a car with a TV in it.

It is so hot right now, I have to wipe off sweat from my head. But it is not even summer yet! I wish the pool would open soon. When the pool does open, I will do cannon-balls, dive for things, swim across the pool, and tread water.

It is much cooler today than it was yesterday. The birds are singing so loud today. I don't know why. Maybe it is because it is so cool outside. Anyway, I like it to be crisp and cool outside, not hot and muggy. That is the worst kind of weather. I like October because it is crisp outside, and it is my birth month. Ben, my cousin, was also born in October.

I am at gymnastics with my mom. It is for the boys. I do soccer. Today I have soccer practice. I love soccer so much. Owen will be doing soccer this fall. Aiden does it too. Aiden also does baseball. I have another hobby. I love to read and write. And draw.

I'm an owl......HOOT HOOT!!!

This is really random, but: I have decided that I love staying up late. Whether it's with friends and family or alone, the feeling of night is just such a thrill for me. And I thrive on being the only one awake.

The quiet peacefulness and stillness of my house awakens all sorts of creative juices in my mind. I write my most thoughtful journal entries in the late night/wee morning hours. And I enjoy writing blog posts (aka, this post!) in the darkness of my room. Not that I'm completely in the dark, of course. I have my trusty bed lamp on.....

Anyway, I definitely prefer late nights to early mornings. Mornings are very nice, but you actually have to force yourself to get out of your warm, cozy bed to see a sunrise. For a sunset, you can just leisurely go outside and watch it. Plus, staying up late ensures sleeping in! Which is always good. (:

I haven't 'known' Anna that long, but already I consider her a great friend. We are totally soul sisters (same taste in music, same Lord and Savior, books, troubles......the list goes on and on) and I am so happy to have met her through the blogging world!!!!!

Another soul sister!!!!!! Kinsey is hilarious and sweet, which is a great combination. (: Her comments on my blog are so uplifting, and always make me feel great. Kinsey and I like the same sort of cars, movies, purses, music, windy days....another list that goes on. =D

Kinsey's blog posts can always make me laugh, with her humor and wittiness. Her love for Jesus and her family also makes me feel super close to her. What I would give to meet her in person!!!!

Ellyn
Ellyn is another soul sister who totally rocks!!! We both love horses (though she might love them a bit more than me), Pirates of the Carribean, reading, and writing!!! Oh yeah, and if we were planets, places, sea animals, and colors, we would be the same ones!!!!! Crazy, right? So yeah, I would have to say we are pretty similar in most cases. We also share a love for Jesus Christ and the life He has given us.
I love seeing one of Ellyn's new blog posts. Whether it's about her many writing ventures, her horse, or just something random, she makes everything sound so exciting and special!
I feel blessed to have 'met' Ellyn, and I look forward to getting to know her better!

*sighs* VeggieTales. Just that word brings back such memories. I could probably sing every single Silly Song there is.....except for some of the newer ones. :) But any of the older ones.........piece of cake.
Some people might be embarassed to admit it that they love a little kid show about talking vegetables, but not me! I will happily admit that whenver I hear a VeggieTales song, I start humming (or singing) and dancing!!!

Youth, Maturity, and Splendor

October
She starts off rather simple. Her air is still warm and sweet; her scenery still with a hint of summer. Then, as the days go on, her true brilliance comes out. Her colors are stunning, the picture of youth and beauty. Her trees are graceful and colorful. Her winds become crisper and cooler, giving a breath of fresh air after a long summer. Her presence is felt everywhere, from the thoughts of people to the habits of nature. Fun and playful, October is where dreams form and stories begin.


November
As this month begins, she is struggling to compete with the memories still left over from her sister, October. Her colors are not as bright; her winds not as fresh. She brings a more mature presence to the earth. But she still has a certains something to her. Her colors are deeper and richer; with her trees more majestic and regal. The winds have a slight bite to them, signaling the start of winter. While slightly o'er shadowed by her younger sister, November is special in her own way. Here, dreams become reality and the ending is found.

December
While October is youthful and November mature, December brings a little of both. Mature scenery and youthful presence, this month is very different from his younger siblings. His trees are done with their leaves, but the grayness of their limbs make a peacful and stirring image. His presence is cheery and merry, as people begin their Christmas mindset. He takes advantage of that, with clear, cold evenings full of stars and firelight. He brings his arms around the whole world as they prepare for the birth of Jesus Christ.




To me, each month brings a certain something for all of us. In this post, I just decided to highlight the ones that have been, still are, and are yet to come.
When I was writing this, I tried to focus a little on November. I feel like this poor month is kind of just squashed in between October and December. With October's beauty and December's festivities, November can seem like a sort of 'filler' month.
But this year, more than any before, my eyes have been opened to the beauty of each and every month. Especially this month, November.

Are there even words to describe it?

Most of my followers have been around to read some pretty (at least to me) emotional posts on our military men and women. Memorial Day, 9/11.......I always get serious when I'm talking/blogging about the men and women who keep our country safe.

So, for this Veteran's Day: Thank you.

Thank you, our brave countrymen and women, who risk your lives every day to keep our borders safe. You show what true courage and dedication is. Without you, the freedoms and liberties we sometimes take for granted would vanish.
Always remember, dear soldiers, that we are praying for you and that we love you.

And especially, my cousin Ryan: I think of  you daily and pray for you constantly! Love you and miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is Owen's birthday today! I have lots of things to tell you! here are some of them: We have our Christmas tree up; Christmas is six days away; and the snow melted. I'm going to tell you a secret! It is Mom's, Dad's, and Owen's Christmas gifts! Mom's gifts are little statues that are bears. Dad's gifts are a flashlight and a mirror that is a Santa Claus. Owen's gift is a book and a stuffed Santa Claus. Oh, Merry Christmas!

I'm to do socer in the spring. I can't wait to start socer! I even practice soccer in the kitchen and the basement! Aiden is going to do baseball in the spring too. My friend, Emily, does ice skating.

On Sunday, I had my b.day! I got books, lots of clothes, and Aunt Becky gave me a cross with a tiny rose in the middle. Mom says it is only for special occasions. I also got a charm bracelet! Mom had one when she was little, and now I have one. I will collect charms everywhere! Oh, and we are going to Disney World! We will go in December.

FINALLY!!!!

Tonight is the Tenth Avenue North concert!!! I am beyond excited........I'm thrilled! *squeals* I simply cannot wait to be jamming along with my mom and other TAN fans. (:

In honor of this event, I have decided to devote a post to: Music.


Music is something special. It is something great. It is something wonderful and fantastic.

I cannot imagine a world without music, without instruments and lyrics and vocals. What a bleak, dark world it would be!

Through music, people show their love for God. Whether it is writing your own songs to God, playing in a band dedicated to God, or just humming with the artist, music is a great way to show our love to God.

My family is a music family. Big music family. We never go on a trip without the family iPod, and cleaning the house just isn't the same without our tunes.
In college, both my parents worked on the radio station. My dad was even a DJ!!!! So I suppose that's where our love for music spurs from.

Songs can get  you through a really hard day, or help you rejoice during a good one. Music never changes....it's always there, ready to uplift you when  you need it most.

When I hear certain songs or artists, I am transported back to the location and the place that song made a big impact on me. For example:

Britt Nicole and Switchfoot remind me of: Disney World, and our rental van.
'By Your Side' reminds me of: right after Mom-mom died, when I felt so alone and sad. It also reminds me of riding in the car.
Barlow Girl reminds me of: working out in the basement.
Everything But the Girl reminds me of: Road trips and falling asleep in the car.
Fireflight reminds me of: Awakening Fest and summer.
'I Can Only Imagine' reminds me of: the first time I ever heard a Christian song, other than a hymn.
Newsboys reminds me of: soccer games and Messiah Camp.
Relient K reminds me of: World Views camp and my friend Leah from Messiah.
Stellar Kart reminds me of: singing in the shower.
TobyMac reminds me of: making music videos with my friend Holly
'This is Home' reminds me of: Narnia and ice cream
Tenth Avenue North reminds me of: singing in the car and rainy days
Third Day reminds me of: my bedroom and my pink blanket
Disney songs remind me of: cleaning my room and watching movies

Get out there and VOTE!

Haha, I guess it's a little late to tell ya'll to vote. Plus, I'm pretty sure most of my followers can't vote yet......but I digress.

Currently, my family and I are watching Fox News and their special coverage of the elections. It's looking pretty good for Republicans, or at least so far.

Whenever Election Day comes around, I feel so helpless and so worried. Like I can't do anything to control or help the situation. And, as the oldest in my family, I like to control things. (: I like to make sure everything is spic-and-span, perfectly in order, and fair. Absolutely fair.

As I am not old enough to vote, I couldn't even help a wee little bit with this important event!!!! Talk about feeling helpless.

This is when I need to remember that everything is in God's hands. And I need to let go of my worry and let God handle it.

Everything that goes on in our world goes on because God willed it to.

These elections are no different.

God will make sure that what is best for us happens. He controls everything, and nothing escapes His gaze. Even if the 'wrong' candidates win, we must remember that everything is God's will.
