before I start this post, I have a confession to make......I'm secretly in love with my character Finn. (:

What is their full name?

Finn Puck 

 Does his or her name have a special meaning? 

Not really....I've just always loved the name Finn. Originally, he was going to be Flynn, but then Tangled came out....and I couldn't really call him that anymore. ;)

Does your character have a methodical or disorganized personality?

Finn is definitely methodical. He likes to think things through, and doesn't usually rush into things.

 Does he or she think inside themselves more than they talk out loud to their friends? (more importantly, does he or she actually have friends?) 

Hmmm.....Finn is usually quite private, except when he's around Lenai. He can tell her anything without feeling weird. And yes, he was plenty of friends in the Silent Wood.

Is there something he or she is afraid of? 

Of never being worthy of Lenai's love.

Does he or she write, dream, dance, sing, or photograph? 

Finn has a rather nice singing voice.

What is his or her favorite book? (or genre of books) 

Finn is more of a poetry guy, but since he's blind, he'll just take whatever Lenai feels like reading to him.

 Who is his or her favorite author and/or someone that inspires him or her? 

*laughs* Lenai is Finn's inspiration.

Favorite flavor of ice cream? 

Finn strikes me as a butter-pecan sort of guy.....if that's even a flavor of ice cream.

Favorite season of the year?

Summer, for that is when the world smells and feels alive to him.

  How old is he/she?

Eighteen, same as Lenai.

 What does he/she do with his/her spare time?

Think about things, talk with friends, or just sit with Lenai.

 Does he/she see the big picture or live in the moment?

Finn generally sees the big picture, but sometimes his judgment is rather clouded.

 Is he/she a perfectionist?

Being blind, Finn has learned to deal with imperfections....so no. =D

 What does her handwriting look like? (round, slanted, curly, skinny, sloppy, neat, decorative, etc.)

Before he was blind, Finn would have had short, flowy writing. But now that his sight is gone, his writing is rather choppy.

 Favorite animal?

He loves lions, for some strange reason.

 Does he/she have any pets?

No, he leaves that to Ella.

 Does he/she have any siblings? How many? Where does he/she fit in?

He has one brother, Mark. Mark is about two years older than Finn, and is the picture of perfection. After their parents died, the boys' relatives left Finn to fend for himself, but took Mark in.

 Does he/she have a 'life verse' and if so what is it?

Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

 Favorite writing utensil?

A good ink pen.

   What type of laugh does he/she have?

A joyful, chuckling laugh.

   Who is his/her best friend?

That'd be Lenai. *wink wink*

 What is his/her family like?

he didn't really know his parents, and his relatives left him. So I'm assuming that they are rather cold and materialistic.

 Is he/she a Christian, or will he/she eventually find Jesus?

Okay, so my story doesn't have Jesus as Himself......more like Narnia and Aslan. In this story, Finn and the gang from the Silent Wood journey to find the Healer, who they believe can cure all their problems. The Healer is sort of like God in this story......I'm still trying to figure it all out.

 Does he/she believe in fairies?

Yes, in a way, Finn does. I haven't quite decided yet whether or not their will be fairies in his world.

 Does he/she like hedgehogs?

Um, I suppose so.

Favorite kind of weather?

A day with lots of sunshine on his face, a warm breeze ruffling his hair and the smell of wildflowers wafting past him.

 Does he/she have a good sense of humor? If so what kind? (Slapstick, wit, sarcasm, etc.?)

Finn is very witty, but not in a mean way. He's just plain funny!

 How did he/she do in school, or any kind of education they might have had.

He's very smart, but has never had a formal education.

Any strange hobbies? 

  Despite his blindness, he likes to whittle.

if you made it through this whole post....I officially love you. ;)  I just love Finn so much, I felt he deserved to get all the previous questions too. *giggles*

Day 3: A favorite book {which is practically impossible}

I would definitely consider myself a bookworm.Ever since I started to read, I've had a book in my hand. My books are some of my most prized possessions, and I have quite a few 'favorites' to choose from. Which makes this decision very difficult.

Day Three: A favorite book

My mom first read this book to me as a part of our history curriculum. I was like 9 or something, so it didn't really click with me {I was more interested in American Girl and The Boxcar Children}.

About two years ago, I wanted something to read and found this ----> in a stack of books in our classroom. I picked it up and started to read.....and was amazed to find I actually loved the book!!!!!!

The main character, Kit Tyler, is a spunky, spirited girl who reminds me a bit of myself, though she's far more outspoken. *shuffles feet*

Oh yeah, and have I mentioned Nat Eaton? He's the sailor dude who falls in love with Kit......he's tanned, blue-eyed, and has sandy hair. Not my usual type of guy......but Nat is sooooooo awesome! He's kind, sweet, and really witty, plus a bit really sarcastic!!! hehe, if I hadn't found Edmund first.....I would be in love with Nat Eaton. Oh, plus the fact that he already has a great girl in Kit Tyler....

So yeah, there's one of my favorite books. (: But let me tell you: that was a very hard choice.

I am determined that nothing but the deepest love could ever induce me into matrimony.

Teehee, can you tell I've been reading a lot of Jane Austen? Over my break, I finished reading Pride and Prejudice {for the second time}, watched the BBC 1995 movie, and started to read Emma.

And I've realized something very important.
I belong in a Jane Austen novel.

More specifically, Pride and Prejudice. After reading the book and seeing a {six hours long!} version of it, I definitely want to be Lizzy Bennett. Sure, she had some tough times.....but look at the handsome gentleman she picked up!

Ah.......how sweet (:

I mean, the fact that her dresses were drop-dead-gorgeous, there was actual ballroom dancing, and she had the perfect older sister makes her life rather wonderful.

Oh, and she got to marry this guy

Do you think that, in Heaven, we'll be able to wear anything we want? If so, this will be my outfit. Permanently!

.....and she got to live here. Lucky girl!

Pride and Prejudice is officially one of my favorite books and movies. Well, at least the 1995 version is. The 2005 one, with Kiera Knightley, wasn't horrible.....but they left so much out! And, like my mom says----Colin Firth makes a much better Mr. Darcy. ;)

That being said, I still adore this hairstyle for Lizzy. Creepy stare going on, though.

So now, I think I can call myself an official Jane Austen fan. Oh, if only I could spend a week in Pride and Prejudice......what a dream come true that would be!!

30 Days of Me: Day 6 & 7

I missed yesterday, so I'm doubling up today!!!

Day 06 - A picture of someplace I've been and a story behind that picture.

I took this picture in Williamsburg, back in 2009. It is from the gardens behind the Governor's Palace. We chose Historic Williamsburg that day over the beach (the boys weren't too excited about that!).
The walkway in the background is made of crushed seashells, which I thought was really cool. Anyway, there's the little story behind this picture!!

Day 07 - What my favorite book, movie, tv show, and artist are, along with why I like them.

Okay, this is really hard. I have so many favorites from the above categories! So I'm just randomly picking some of my favorites. :)

Favorite book: Witch of Blackbird Pond
I like this book because of how spunky and courageous Kit is, and how everyone ends up happily ever after in the end (oh  yeah, and because Nat is awesome!!!).

Favorite movie: Rear Window and That Thing You Do
I like Rear Window because of the plot/suspense, and because of Grace Kelly's outfits (breathtaking). That Thing You Do is great because of the song (so bouncy) and the character are hilarious.

Favorite TV show: White Collar
I like this show because the plot is really good and the characters are really witty. And no, Mozzie is not dead!

Favorite Music Artist/Band: My favorite artist would be Britt Nicole, and band......Tenth Avenue North, Stellar Kart, and Newsboys.
Britt Nicole has fun, bouncy lyrics and a great sense of style. I cannot really choose a favorite band: Each of the above performs my favorite songs! So, they will just have to stay a tie. :)

Not just another princess

Here's another excerpt from The Two Towers that I like.
When they had all drunk, the king went down the hall to the doors. There the guards awaited him, and heralds stood, and all the lords and chiefs were gathered that remained in Edoras or dwelt nearby.

'Behold! I go forth, and it seems like to be my last riding,' said Theoden. 'I have no child. Theodred my son is slain. I name Eomer my sister-son to be my heir. If neither of us return, then choose a new lord as you will. But to someone I must now entrust my people that I leave behind, to rule them in my place. Which of you will stay?'
No man spoke.

'Is there none whom you would name? In whom do my people trust?'

'In the House of Eorl,' answered Hama.

'But Eomer I cannot spare, nor would he stay,' said the king, 'and he is the last of that House.'

'I said not Eomer,' answered Hama. 'And he is not the last. There is Eowyn, daughter of Eomund, his sister. She is fearless and high-hearted. All love her. Let her be as lord to the Eorlingas, while we are gone.'

'It shall be so,' said Theoden. 'Let the heralds announce to the folk that the Lady Eowyn will lead them!'

Then the king sat upon a seat before his doors, and Eowyn knelt before him and received from him a sword and a fair corslet. 'Farewell sister-daughter!' eh said. 'Dark is the hour, yet maybe we shall return to the Golden hall. But in Dunharrow the people may long defend themselves, and if the battle go ill, thither will come all who escape.'

'Speak not so!' she answered. 'A year shall I endure for every day that passes until your return.' But as she spoke her eyes went to Aragorn who stood nearby.




Eowyn is not an ordinary princess. Her people love her, respect her, and follow her. Even the great chiefs and lords of Rohan would have Eowyn rule in her uncle's place.

Not many princesses would be willing to take on such a heavy burden, but Eowyn is ready and willing.
But that look at Aragorn as she spoke..........................ah, she was already so in love. How sad that she should love him, heir of Gondor, and love of the fair Lady Arwen.


She'll learn soon enough, I suppose.

Here's one of my new favorite passages from The Two Towers.

"Go, Eowyn sister-daughter!" said the old king. "The time for fear is past."
The woman turned and went slowly into the house. As she passed the doors she turned and looked back. Grave and thoughtful was her glance, as she looked on the king with cool pity in her eyes. Very fair was her face, and her long hair was like a river of gold. Slender and tall she was in her white robe girt with silver; but strong she seemed and stern as steel, a daughter of kings. Thus Aragorn for the first time in the full light of day beheld Eowyn, Lady of Rohan, and thought her fair, fair and cold, like a morning of pale spring that is not yet come to womanhood. And now she was suddenly aware of him: tall heir of kings wise with many winters, greycloaked, hiding a power that yet she felt.
For a moment still as stone she stood, then turning swiftly she was gone.

Dad was reading The Two Towers to us tonight, and he came upon that paragraph. I just love how Tolkien was able to capture the essence of Ewoyn in that one small paragraph. I'm also amazed at how well Peter Jackson was able to cast the role of Eowyn---the actress who played her was amazing. As Dad read this passage, I could see a clear picture of Eowyn in my head---and the actress in the movie matched it perfectly.
I also think it's interesting how Tolkien writes that Aragorn specifically saw Eowyn for the first time. I suppose he's setting us up for later meetings between the two.
Of course, I'm thinking of the movie again....gotta stop doing that! Die-heart LOTR fan that I am, I am ashamed to say I haven't read all the books myself. This is the first time Dad is reading the series to us, and it's quite different than the books. We all agreed that the scene where Gandalf casts Wormtongue/Saruman from Theoden's mind is better portrayed in the movie.............sorry Tolkien!!!!

Anyway, back to my original point: Eowyn is such a perfect beauty: fair and beautiful, yet stern and cold. Just as a Lady of Rohan should be.
