I am determined that nothing but the deepest love could ever induce me into matrimony.

Teehee, can you tell I've been reading a lot of Jane Austen? Over my break, I finished reading Pride and Prejudice {for the second time}, watched the BBC 1995 movie, and started to read Emma.

And I've realized something very important.
I belong in a Jane Austen novel.

More specifically, Pride and Prejudice. After reading the book and seeing a {six hours long!} version of it, I definitely want to be Lizzy Bennett. Sure, she had some tough times.....but look at the handsome gentleman she picked up!

Ah.......how sweet (:
I mean, the fact that her dresses were drop-dead-gorgeous, there was actual ballroom dancing, and she had the perfect older sister makes her life rather wonderful.

Oh, and she got to marry this guy

Do you think that, in Heaven, we'll be able to wear anything we want? If so, this will be my outfit. Permanently!

.....and she got to live here. Lucky girl!
Pride and Prejudice is officially one of my favorite books and movies. Well, at least the 1995 version is. The 2005 one, with Kiera Knightley, wasn't horrible.....but they left so much out! And, like my mom says----Colin Firth makes a much better Mr. Darcy. ;)

That being said, I still adore this hairstyle for Lizzy. Creepy stare going on, though.
So now, I think I can call myself an official Jane Austen fan. Oh, if only I could spend a week in Pride and Prejudice......what a dream come true that would be!!

How big of a Jane Austen fan are you? And what book would you want to spend a week in?

Ok so I haven't read through any of the book except Pride & Prejudice and that was a children's version years and years (at least 10) ago. :( I am officially a loser. :/ But have no fear because this year I am beginning to work my way through them, starting with Sense and Sensibility in a few days. I have however seen both the BBC and Joe Wright versions versions of Pride & Prejudice, I like the latter better because of Keira Knightley (huge fan!). I love, love, love the BBC version of Emma that came out year before last. And that is all of my Austen experiences. Very sad, I know. :( :)

Hi there Lily,

I wanted to read these books but I asked other girls. (Who were older than me) And they all said that they were too old for me and that I should wait until I am older. (Like 13)

But, I really wanna read them. I am hoping to see the movies soon.
What do you think?
Have a great day,

Kelsey

I love, love the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice. I don't think I would watch the other. I love Keira Knightly, so that's one reason. I love Jane Austen, all of her quotes, be it from her books or just from something she has said, are so inspiring. Love her! However I have not read any of her books other than like Hope said the Children's version. Haha! I know I'm lame. So hopefully I'll get around to diving into her books soon. =]

I have read just about every Jane Austen novel and watched about every movie. Actually I just watched the latter version of Pride and Prejudice last night, funny coincidence! Honestly I like that version best because Keira Knightly is my favorite actress, and also because I think they did some of the scenes better.
I just commented to my parents as we were watching the movie,"Why can't guys today be like that? How did we go from that to this? soooo unfair."
But anyhoo, have a wonderful day Lily!!! ~Kelsey

Ooooh I agree!! I was soo born in the wrong century as well!!
And while I have the book Pride and Prejudice, I have yet to read it! :o
But I have seen the extremely long movie, and loved it!! Although, I myself prefer the 2005 Mr. Darcy; but mainly because for some reason, I just cannot take Colin Firth seriously. In anything. Ever. It's a problem I have...Ha! :D

*gulp*
I've actually never read a Jane Austen novel (okay, so when I was like eight and was in a book club that was reading it, I sped-read all the way through it ((i.e. read the first word of every paragraph)) but I don't think that counts) but I really, really want to once I don't have about 50 school books bogging me down at a time. I have watched both versions of Pride and Prejudice, though, and I love them both! :)

I LOVE Pride and Prejudice. It's one of my favorite books ever. I want to be Lizzy too! Haha. I never saw the 1995 version of it, only the 2005 version. I will have to see it sometime. :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Keira Knightley version of P&P. Yeah, I'd pay a great deal to go and be her for a while. And I've already made up my mind that my husband will wear tall boots and a long coat like Mr. Darcy :)

...weeell, I do have a couple of them sitting in my bookshelf. But ever since I could -- I just haven't been able to get through the first paragraph! I don't know. I think I need to make it my goal; to get through one of those books. Hmm, I think I watched the newer Pride & Prejudice (Hehe. I forgot how to spell 'Prejudice' so I had to copy it from Chelsea Elizabeth's comment :P) when I was like, 9...

But I will read one this year. [You can do it Emii!]
