so much is going on, I can hardly take it in

I seem to think better in little snippets and pictures....so here ya go. ;)

1. I left the soccer team I've been on since I was nine. Things with the coach weren't going well, a few of my friends were leaving too.....and it was just time. I cried a lot last week, but I'm okay now. I got picked up by another great team, that has a friend from wayyyy back on it. I'll never forget my old girls, nor the times we've had together----but it's time for a new chapter in my life to start.

and He's already started to heal my heart. :)

2. On Tuesday, I went to Kings Dominion for the first time!!!! Abby and Brittany {teammates from the Christian school I played for} invited me....and I'm so glad they did! They actually managed to get me on three rollercoasters. *shakes head* Yes, I gave into peer pressure.....and yes, I did actually have a lot of fun. But don't worry: I did not let them get me on the Intimidator, the Drop Zone, or the Crypt {isn't that a scary name anyway?!?}. No matter how hard Abby and David pushed, I was not getting on any of those rides. Not even a pinky-promise could get me on the Crypt...first time I've ever broken one too. I think it was worth it, though.

Anyway, their youth group is so much fun, and I hope I get to hang with them all sometime again this summer.

3. On the way home, Abby and I were discussing Disney characters and stuff like that. Well, she decided that I am like Wendy from Peter Pan. When I wasn't too excited about that, David pointed out that I'm more like Mary-Jane from Spiderman. Thoughts?

Mary Jane....but I don't have red hair.

Wendy....but I don't have curls and my eyes aren't blue.

 

Oh well, I suppose Wendy and Mary Jane aren't the worst characters ever....I penned David as Mowgli from The Jungle Book {'cept with clothes} and Abby as Sally from Cars. *cracks up*

4. Once again, I'm getting the itch to travel. I wish I had my license so I could hop in the car, pop in a good cd, and just drive. I just need a change from my everyday life......

5. I finally got to see Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides last weekend!!! Oh my word, I totally loved it. And, surprisingly, I didn't miss Will and Elizabeth too much.....thanks to this lovely couple.

 

PHILIP WAS A MISSIONARY!!!!!!!!!! And while he wasn't the most sound missionary ever, he still brought a better light to Christianity for the movie. I eventually learned to like Serena, even if she did *spoiler alert* almost cause Philip to die. Downside: the mermaids were really scary. Just sayin'.

6. The best thing about summer is the freedom to read whatever and whenever I want! Ted Dekker, Beverly Lewis, and C.S. Lewis have been dominating my reading chair lately. I'm so thankful for the library---without it, I would most certainly be broke from buying new books.

 

7. I'm having a serious longing for Disney World. It's been a year and a half since my family last went....and not being in the happiest place on earth is starting to tax me.Whenever I'm at Disney World, I can forget all the outside troubles and worries of normal life, and just be happy. I seriously want to be there right now.

it deserves to be bigger than everything else *giggles*

it's rainy, I'm bored....and I am a total failure. *see first confession*

Confession: I failed my driver's permit test on Thursday. Yes, I did. *wipes away tear*

Confession: I really hate yield signs now.......they're the reason I failed the test! See, in Virginia, it's a two part test----first signs, then general. And you can't miss even one sign question.

Confession: I want a library like this:

Confession: I really love this song by Superchick.

Confession: I don't really like summer......but I'm dying for it to come. No school, sunshine, camp......I can't wait!!!!

Confession: I am kind of obsessed with my new Easter dress.

Confession: I'm so fed up with music artists claiming to be Christians, then going off and doing/singing/saying something that goes directly against what Jesus taught. Honestly, it ticks me off.

Confession: I saw Gnomeo and Juliet over the weekend.....and I actually kinda liked it. I had a wee crush on Gnomeo in the end. *spoiler: they don't die in the end*

*I got like five compliments today on my outfit*

*I have a new favorite Relient K song *

*I have my whole summer pretty much planned out*

*I don't have a soccer game for two weeks...... which means time to rest up*

*I watched Tangled twice yesterday.....and now I want to watch it again*

*Katie  painted a picture from Tangled....and she knows the in-real-life twin of Flynn Rider. Which means there has to be an equivalent of Edmund out there somewhere*

*I had cookies and creme ice cream last night*

*Alligator Sky has been stuck in my head for a few hours....and it's a great song*

*I'm taking the test to get my driver's permit tomorrow! Please pray that I don't fail*

*I have just enough money to buy one song on iTunes. Any suggestions?*

I hate brush-burns.

I love having a sore throat from singing too much.

I hate waking up the next morning with aforementioned sore throat.

I love wearing no stockings to church for the first time since September.

I hate being hungry.

I love this dress.   I seriously wish I could be that model.

I hate not having the money to buy new clothes.

I love that I only have about 8 weeks of school left.

I hate soccer players who use their elbows.

I love mac'ncheese

I hate weird music videos. 

 

I love that I can get my driving permit in a little under two weeks.

I hate the thought that I might fail the permit test.

I love this movie couple. Though, in all honesty, I want to steal Mr. Knightley from Emma.

I love the fact that Lauren and I both did Lord of the Rings posts in the same week......can someone say FREAKY AND AWESOME?!?

The Fellowship:

 Four Hobbits....

"This task was appointed to you, Frodo of the Shire. If you do not find a way, no one will. "

Without question, one of the most well-known characters ever created. When Frodo realizes the Ring must be destroyed, he takes the task upon himself. The Ring changes but does not completely overtake him. Even so, by the end of the quest, Frodo realizes he cannot stay in the Shire. Along with Bilbo and the last of the elves, he sails to the Gray Havens.

I made a promise, Mr Frodo. A promise. "Don't you leave him Samwise Gamgee." And I don't mean to. I don't mean to.

My family loves Samwise so much, we named our dog after him!!!!!!! Without Samwise, I don't think Frodo would have made it to Mordor. Braver than he thinks, Samwise kills Shelob the spider, and is even able to resist the Ring's temptation. I was very happy to see that, even after Frodo left the Shire, Sam was able to settle down with Rosie Cotton and have a {very cute} family.

Fool of a Took!!!!!

*sighs* Ah, Periguin Took. At first he seems to be a rather minor character, and an extremely silly one at that. But, eventually, Pippin proves his worth as a member of the Fellowship by helping save Faramir's life.

"I think we might have made a mistake leaving the Shire, Pippin. "

Merry is my favorite hobbit. Smart and down-to-earth, he realizes how big the matter of the Ring actually is, and eventually helps Eowyn defeat the Witch-King.

Two Men....

"Long have you hunted me, long have I eluded you. No more. Behold! The Sword of Elendil!"

*laughs* Need I really sum up Aragorn, son of Arathorn, High King of Gondor?!? I mean, first he's Strider, a mysterious yet regal guy who takes Frodo and the other hobbits to Rivendell. Then, he's Aragorn, the only remaining heir to the throne of Gondor. Finally, after trying to run from his destiny, he accepts his true place as King of Gondor. Personally, I liked him best when he was a Ranger......but he had to become King sometime!

"I would have followed you.... my captain........ my king...."

I have always admired Boromir. I think he was kind of misunderstood, and deep down he had a good heart. For instance: after he realizes his mistake in trying to take the Ring from Frodo, he fights to the death to protect Merry and Pippin. His last words, above^^, are one some of my favorites from the whole movie. In the end, Boromir proved himself a true knight of Gondor.

A Dwarf...

Gimli: He was already dead!
Legolas: He was twitching.
Gimli: He was twitching because he's got my axe EMBEDDED IN HIS NERVOUS SYSTEM!

Ah, Gimli. So brave, so small, so CUTE! I mean, with his beard and his gruff voice....he just reminds me of a teddy bear. ;) A brave and fierce teddy bear, though. *wink wink*

An Elf....

The stars are veiled. Something stirs in the East. A sleepless malice. The eye of the enemy is moving. He is here.".

Perhaps considered Aragorn's best friend in the Fellowship, Legolas was quite the bowman!!!! Elves are so cool.....and an elf that is played by Orlando Bloom?!? YES PLEASE!!!!!

...And a Wizard

"A wizard is never late, nor is he early....he arrives precisely when he means to."

Gandalf the Gray, Gandalf the White......Gandalf. Wise, courageous, and one of my favorite characters. He counsels {pretty much} everyone in the movie, no matter what station they hold. Plus, he's pretty lethal with a sword and a staff!!!

Some other members of Middle Earth:

"I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.  I choose a mortal life."

Poor, poor Arwen. After she fell in love with Aragorn, she gave up an immortal life to be with him. Even her love for Elrond, her father, could not trump what she felt for Aragorn. I think she would make a wonderful Queen of Gondor.

Aragorn: What do you fear, my lady?
Eowyn: A cage. To stay behind bars until use and old age accept them and all chance of valor has gone beyond recall or desire.
Aragorn: You are a daughter of kings, a shield maiden of Rohan. I do not think that will be your fate.

Eowyn was one girl who went through a lot! Her parents and cousin die, her uncle is possessed by Saruman, and her brother is banished from the lands, not to mention she was stalked by a creepy guy named Wormtongue. Oh, and she {sort of} fell in love with Aragorn. Quite a bit for one girl to handle, but Eowyn was a shield-maiden of Rohan. After she and Merry defeated the Witch-King, she and Faramir meet and......well, you might say the rest is history. ;)

"Even the smallest person can change the course of the future."

Lady Galadriel does not appear too often in the movies, but she plays a key role. Another person who was tempted by the Ring, Galadriel was able to overcome her desire. Her gifts to the Fellowship were very crucial: without Earendil, the Elven star, Frodo probably would not have been able to escape Shelob's lair.

"The man who can wield the power of this sword can summon to him an army more deadly than any that walks this earth. Put aside the ranger. Become who you were born to be."

Elrond saw it all: the glory of Men, the fall of Men, the darkness that enslaved Middle Earth, and finally the rise of a new King. He must have been sad to have Arwen choose mortal life with Aragorn, but I can't imagine he loved her any less. Throughout the entire ordeal with the Ring, Elrond was a source of wisdom and calmness.

Pippin: This was yours?
Faramir: Yes, it was mine. My father had it made for me.
Pippin: Well, I'm taller than you were then. Though I'm not likely to grow anymore... except sideways.
Faramir: Never fitted me either. Boromir was always the soldier. They were so alike, he and my father. Proud, stubborn even. But strong.
Pippin: I think you have strength, of a different kind. And one day your father will see it.

As Boromir's younger brother, Faramir had quite a lot to live up to. Even after keeping Osgiliath safe from the servants of Mordor, his father Denethor thought he was nothing compared to Boromir. When he interceptes Frodo and Sam, Faramir is temporarily tempted to take the Ring to Gondor and prove himself to his father. But then, he realizes how evil the Ring is, and that it must not go to Gondor. *sighs* Such a strong, wonderful, brave man!!

"It's a dangerous business, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no telling where you might be swept off to."

The guy who started it all. Even after having the Ring for so many years, Bilbo was able to shake off its power over him and move on. I love this picture of him and his pipe......quintessential Bilbo.

Lord of the Rings is really important to my family.....I was practically raised on it! Nah, I'm just kidding. But we always have a marathon for the extended versions of the movies. Which makes them super duper long. :) Hopefully, I will marry someone who loves LOTRas much as I do.

Day 24: Well, what WOULD you expect me to like?

I love movies.....pretty much any kind. That being said, today's challenge is kinda hard for me.

Day Twenty-Four: A movie no one would expect you to like

For those of you who don't know, I dislike DreamWorks movies. With a passion.
So, when we went to see the movie Megamind last fall.......I was not expecting much. And then the movie started.

To be honest, I actually loved the movie. The plot was pretty good, and the characters were likeable {to me, at least}.

I've never seen a Will Ferrell movie I really liked {not that I've seen that many} but he played a blue-headed, not-so-bad villain rather well.
Confession: by the end of the movie, I had a little big crush on Megamind. Is that sad, or what?!?

Not the biggest Tina Fey fan either.....but she was really good in this movie. Her character, Roxanne Ritchie, was perfect.



Haha, isn't that look just hilarious? And, in the background,  you can see his little robot-bad-guys. Oh, and his trusty sidekick: Minion.

Minion was my favorite character.....I mean, he's a fish, in a fishbowl, on top of a huge robot body!!! What's not to love?

Mmm, another DreamWorks movie I loved loved loved was How to Train Your Dragon. But that's another post for another time. *winks at Emily*

Day 2....what should I choose?!?!?

*sighs*
So today I actually looked at the list of challenges, and I realized it's going to be pretty darn hard to choose a favorite book, movie, etc. But, I will strive to.....since all my fellow challengers followed the rules, I do too. *hangs head*

Day Two: My favorite movie {at this moment ;)}

Jamie: "You know what I figured out today?"

Landon: "What?"

Jamie: "Maybe God has a bigger plan for me than I had for myself. Like this journey never ends. Like you were sent to me because I'm sick. To help me through all this. You're my angel."

A Walk to Remember is one of my most favorite movies.....and I've only seen it once.

Crazy, right? And...I haven't seen it since December of 2009.

That being said....it is one of {if not my absolute!} favorite romance movies. I mean, it's the perfect story! Popular guy falls in love with a pastor's slightly awkward daughter......turns out she has leukemia, but he marries her anyway. *sighs romantically* I won't ruin the ending, for those of you who haven't seen it, but you so have to watch it!!!!

Teehee, can you tell I've been reading a lot of Jane Austen? Over my break, I finished reading Pride and Prejudice {for the second time}, watched the BBC 1995 movie, and started to read Emma.

And I've realized something very important.
I belong in a Jane Austen novel.

More specifically, Pride and Prejudice. After reading the book and seeing a {six hours long!} version of it, I definitely want to be Lizzy Bennett. Sure, she had some tough times.....but look at the handsome gentleman she picked up!

Ah.......how sweet (:

I mean, the fact that her dresses were drop-dead-gorgeous, there was actual ballroom dancing, and she had the perfect older sister makes her life rather wonderful.

Oh, and she got to marry this guy

Do you think that, in Heaven, we'll be able to wear anything we want? If so, this will be my outfit. Permanently!

.....and she got to live here. Lucky girl!

Pride and Prejudice is officially one of my favorite books and movies. Well, at least the 1995 version is. The 2005 one, with Kiera Knightley, wasn't horrible.....but they left so much out! And, like my mom says----Colin Firth makes a much better Mr. Darcy. ;)

That being said, I still adore this hairstyle for Lizzy. Creepy stare going on, though.

So now, I think I can call myself an official Jane Austen fan. Oh, if only I could spend a week in Pride and Prejudice......what a dream come true that would be!!

Hey, just got back from seeing Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It was beyond amazing!!!!! Georgie and Skandar have grown up so much, and Eustace was perfect!!!!! And, I hate admitting it, but Caspian was pretty darn-good looking.

But don't worry, Skandar: You're still my favorite. (:

And now, of course, you all have permission to stop reading. Sorry if I creeped you out. (: But now you know what my bff Emily goes through!!!!

So yeah, the movie was amazing. And hopefully, I'll be seeing it again with Emily over Christmas break! Which cannot come soon enough for me! I really need a break.

*takes breath* Sorry if I'm really bugging you guys with these rather random posts lately.....I just haven't been feeling very serious! lol, blame it on all the Christmas music I've been listening too. ;) Oh, and all the candy I was eating (I cleaned out my dresser and found a bucketload of stuff left over from Easter :)

Okay....so I'm watching That Thing You Do, one of my favorite movies Evah. It's a hilarious movie about this boy-band, who start off in a garage and, eventually, make it to Hollywood!!! Liv Tyler and Tom Hanks are in it, which makes it even better. (:

Wanna know something funny? The guy with the red and white guitar, Lenny? We have a waiter at our local breakfast place who looks exactly like him. Talks like him too.

 Oh, and here is one of my favorite movie characters:
