Our commission

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

This is the commission Jesus gave to his disciples before He was taken up to Heaven. Just because this commission was given 2,000 years ago doesn't mean it doesn't apply to us. We are Jesus' disciples now; we are the ones to whom this commission is directed.

I love that God, while giving us a command, also gave us a promise: And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. So long as we remember that Jesus is with us always, we can never be defeated. Therefore, we should not be afraid to go out and make disciples of all nations.

This part is pretty hard for me: The whole going-out-and-converting-people. I'm not the most open person about my faith.......I like to keep it kind of a secret thing between me and God. And while that is fine, it's not good for witnessing to people.

This summer I am attending the World Views camp at Liberty University. Among other things, I'm hoping this camp will help me learn to be more open about my faith, leading me to witness to people better. Please pray for me as I try to go through this!
